I was told I would be doing 1-5 all summer but they asked if I could come in in the morning. I was excited to be asked to do more work! But it was a long day...
I got there at 9:30 and immediately got put to work on more summer scholarships. Glada told me how scholarship work for different sports; some are head count and others are equivalent. After a few hours I realized that I like dealing with head count stuff and not equivalent! So getting the information for basketball, a head count sport, I just count the heads. With basketball, and other head count sports, each team can only give out a certain amount of scholarships. Compared to an equivalent sport, where you can give out as many as you want, the number of athletes are usually much higher than the 13 basketball can give. With equivalent sports you have break one scholarship down and give five people a fifth. So seeing "person a gets 20%, person b gets 12%, and person c gets the rest" makes things a lot harder. Luckily for me they gave me a little cheat sheet.
