What I like most about this internship is that it's a nice change from being a teacher. The things that I didn't like in my current career, I can possibly fill the void here. I like being able to work alone in an office instead of working hands on with students. I prefer working hands off, but I don't like how hands off this internship is. I want to see an impact I'm having on the students rather than always working behind the scenes. I don't know, maybe that's just the teacher in me talking.
This internship has me thinking about which path I will take next year. That's when I plan to make a career change. I've been leaning towards being an Athletic Director at a high school. I think that would be more up my alley than at the college leave. I just wish we had the option of landing a mentorship at high schools.
Walking into an office building still feels weird to me. It's out of my comfort zone. I'd much rather be in a school. But what are the odds of someone my age being the AD at a high school? I have a lot of research to do.
